Sázava, Jihlava, Svratka, Doubrava and Želivka for paddlers. Below are daily GloFAS model estimates of river flow, not real-time ČHMÚ measurements. Paddling suitability ratings are indicative.
Seven grades from gentle flat water (ZW) to the limit of navigability (WW VI). In Vysočina, you will mainly encounter grades ZW up to WW II — these are mostly family-friendly recreational rivers.
Slow-flowing water without rapids or major obstacles. Suitable for complete beginners and families with children.
Small rapids and waves, an easy-to-read route, no dangerous obstacles. Basic paddle strokes.
Regular rapids with waves and rocks, requiring active manoeuvring. The route remains clearly visible from the boat.
Large waves, holes and rocks. The route is not always obvious, scouting from the bank is recommended. Safety backup is required.
Powerful hydraulics, siphons, waterfalls. Always scout ahead, safety cover required (bank rescue, throw bag).
Extremely difficult rapids, waterfalls and complex routes. High risk of injury even for expert paddlers.
Often considered unnavigable. A successful descent is extremely risky, and any mistake is life-threatening.
Difficulty changes with flow — at high water levels, the grade often rises by one or even two levels. Always check current conditions (e.g. in our card above or on ČHMÚ HPPS) and do not overestimate your experience.
The points indicate reference stations (the usual entry point for the given section).
Open-Meteo Flood API (GloFAS model from ECMWF / Copernicus) — daily flow value [m³/s] for any GPS point on a river. No API key, updated 1× daily. We compare the current value with the average of the last 7 days to calculate the trend (↑↓).
For accurate real-time readings, we always recommend checking ČHMÚ HPPS (gauging stations) and river basin administrators’ websites — Povodí Vltavy and Povodí Moravy.
